"1968: The Concert" 2008 Cabaret Show
A hard rock, Motown, psychedelic, folk and country cabaret co-created by pianist Sheldon Forrest and singer David Nathan Scott--the 1968 Band consisting of David Nathan Scott, vocals and hand percussion; Pete Maness, electric bass; Alec Menge/Alex Wyatt drums; Rayna Dae and Ronica Reddick ("The Rayronettes") backing vocals; Sheldon Forrest, musical direction and piano. A revue of 25 songs written, recorded, and/or released in the year 1968. "Home/Thuis" 2008 Cabaret Show
Accompany Dutch singer Sabina Petra in her U.S. cabaret debut in a show she created which asks, in both Dutch and English, the musical questions: "What exactly is home? Where can you find it? How? Where?" through theater and film songs by Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Sondheim, Kurt Weill, Michel Legrand, Maury Yeston, Ahrens & Flaherty, Maltby & Shire, Quincy Jones and Phil Collins; pop songs by Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Louis Armstrong, Vonda Shepard, and Theo Nijland; plus Sabina's own original songs. At the Duplex Cabaret Theater.

"I Hate New York: A Love Story" 2008 Cabaret Show
Musical-direct and accompany singer Ben Cherry in his cabaret debut at The Metropolitan Room at Gotham. The show consisted of songs of love, hate and ambivalence toward New York City written by such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Harry Warren, Gordon Jenkins, Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, John Bucchino, Maury Yeston, Michael John LaChiusa, Dave Frishberg, Peter Golub, Nellie McKay, and Michael Mooney. We were honored to have Mr. Mooney in our audience, and to have had the benefit of direction by Ms. Suzanne Carrico.

"Jams Vocales" at Swan Bar 2008 Recurring Performance
Co-lead a series of open-mic soirées with American Red Hot Mama Lexi DeRock (Hawaii). Lexi and I present a variety program of swing, blues, pop/soul, novelty numbers, and showtunes (Kander and Ebb, Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee, Janis Joplin, Bette Midler, Malvina Reynolds, Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin, John Lennon, Etta James, Dusty Springfield, Dolly Parton) and invite guests from the audience to perform. We have been joined by tenor saxophonist Rob Armus, guitarist André Kaminker, and "gentle drummer" Chris McDonald. It's also my pleasure to have accompanied singers René Miller, Fedia Lumbroso, Laurent Ribaud, Manuelle Gré, Patrick Matijevic, Delphine Haslé, Patrick Honoré, Marlène Charléry, Kit Leonard, Jessica Lambert, Cyril Bonnet, and many others. "Long As You're Living: The Songs and Poetry of Oscar Brown, Jr." 2008 Cabaret Show
Perform with jazz trio (Tom Hubbard-bass; Scott Latzky-drums/percussion) backing singer Linda Kosut in a reprise of her tribute show to the genius songwriter Oscar Brown Jr. at The Metropolitan Room during the fourth quarter of the Giants-Patriots Superbowl. And there was an impressive audience nonetheless!

"Movin' Right Along: Music of the Muppets" 2008 Cabaret Show
Musical-direct and accompany featured singer Douglas Cochrane and guest singer German Rodriguez in a revue of four decades of Jim Henson's Muppet Franchise, from Sesame Street and the Sesame Street movie to The Muppet Show, The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan, Muppet Treasure Island, and Labyrinth. Songs by Joe Raposo, Jeff Moss, Paul Williams, Barry Mann, Waylon Jennings, and David Bowie. Performed at The Music Box at Broadway Baby.

"Piano In The Park" 2008 Festival Performance

Musical-directed and accompanied singer Douglas Cochrane in the third of our trilogy of revues of entertainment empires (first and second being James Bond and Jim Henson), covering seven decades of Disney film music from 1937's "Snow White" to 2007's "Enchanted." Musical-directed and accompanied dramatic mezzo-soprano Kathryn Allyn (formerly Kathryn Friest, New York City Opera etc.) in her cabaret debut--a departure from her usual repertoire--singing the folk, jazzy and bluesy pop, country, singer-songwriter, and swing music she grew up hearing and singing in "The Little Apple" (Manhattan, Kansas). Music by Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Patsy Cline, Don McLean, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Kingston Trio, Mose Allison, k.d. lang, Arlo Guthrie, and more. "Wives and Lovers" 2008 Cabaret Show
Musical-direct and accompany singer Adrianne Hick in her cabaret debut. The show, co-created by Adrianne and myself, explored themes of love, sex, relationships, flirtation, seduction, and infidelity through jazz standards by Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Fats Waller, Walter Donaldson and Louis Prima; theater songs by Jule Styne, Cy Coleman, Charles Strouse, Kurt Weill, Elton John and Jerry Bock; and pop songs by Burt Bacharach, Don Henley, Fiona Apple, and Journey. It was performed to a near-capacity crowd at The Reprise Room at Dillon's.

American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) 2008 Teaching Engagement
Play for Vocal Production classes taught by Jenn Smolos at the New York campus of a 120-year-old theater school with many celebrity alumni (including: Edward G. On Rue de la Bucherie, just across the Seine from Notre Dame de Paris, in the back of the ground level of George Whitman's 1964 revival of Sylvia Beach's famous Anglophone bookstore which published James Joyce's "Ulysses" is an upright piano with a quote from Merchant of Venice "Mark The Music" taped to it. Sheldon has played this piano on numerous occasions, both solo and accompanying French singer Anny Peguin Perrin, British singer Jessica Clarissa Lambert, and American singer Lexi DeRock.

Musical-directed 35 high school students and lead the Wildcat band (consisting of Barry Wiesenfeld-bass, Steve Hodes-drums, Michael Senyszyn-guitar)in The West Milford Players' spring production of "High School Musical," directed by Erika Crocco, benefiting the local organizations PRIDE (a developmentally-disabled adults' program) and ERASE (End Racism and Sexism Everywhere), at the Hillcrest Community Center in West Milford Township, New Jersey.

"Forty-four years of James Bond movie-themes in one hour." A retrospective of the film music from 21 Bond movies, 1962-2006. Featuring singer Douglas Cochrane (American Idol contestant)in a reprise of our well-received November 2006 show--with the welcome addition of Mr. Barry Wiesenfeld, ace bassist--interpreting songs by John Barry, Bricusse & Newley, Marvin Hamlisch, Paul McCartney, Bono, k.d. lang, Sheryl Crow, Chris Cornell, etc...originally sung by Shirley Bassey, Louis Armstrong, Carly Simon, Rita Coolidge, Duran Duran, A-Ha, Garbage, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Nancy Sinatra, etc. The notices for this show were picked up by the James Bond fan sites www.commanderbond.net and www.MI6.co.uk. Douglas and I were also interviewed by the producer of the "Out and About" cable TV show, who had also just filmed our performance. "Piano In The Park" 2007 Festival Performance
Played two weeks (in July and August) of lunchtime concerts in Bryant Park (behind the New York Public Library)--emphasizing ragtime, stride, and jazz and blues of the 20s--for the fourth summer in a row. Other pianists in the festival included: Terry Waldo, Junior Mance, Victor Lin, Ayako Shirasaki, Roy Eaton, Todd Robbins, Deanna Witkowski, Dan Manjovi, and Dona Carter.

Fête de la Musique 2007 Festival Performance
Celebrated in France annually since 1982, Fête de la Musique is also celebrated at the French Institute Alliance Francaise in NYC. Sheldon performed a half-hour set of Piaf, Brel, Trenet and Legrand songs in the Skyroom at FIAF, and also had the unexpected pleasure to accompany mezzo-soprano Mary Ann Stewart singing the Habanera from Bizet's "Carmen."

The show combined opera (Bizet, Puccini), operetta (Franz Lehar, Oscar Straus, & Sigmund Romberg), jazz (Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, & Dave Frishberg), & latin (Alberto Dominguez, Alvaro Carrillo, & A.C. Jobim), and poetry (Keats, Lear). The first performance was performed entirely on rollerblades and featured backup dancers led by Douglas Cochrane. At The TRIAD Theater.
